In my imagined universe, inanimate things come to life. Mountains long to move beyond their horizons.  Suns and moons leave their orbits to explore and tend the land. Gentle creatures roam freely, guided by astral shepherds, starways, compasses and bridges.

There are no deadlines, no offices, no pollution, no electricity—only warmth and light from celestial bodies, and lives that unfold through simplicity, caretaking, and deep connection to land, sky, and the rhythms of the Universe.

My work is shaped by personal experience, a lifelong love of animals and nature, and a belief that sentient life may extend beyond humans alone. I am interested in the idea that awareness, care, and intelligence can exist in many forms—animal, environmental, and imagined—and that these forms might coexist through shared rhythms rather than dominance or control.

My current body of work Light Years to Yonder, continues a journey first begun in Light Years from Home, presenting a romantic, unscientific vision of space as a connected cosmos where land, sky, animals, and celestial bodies are bound by colour, form, and wonder without spectacle. Through these works, I invite viewers to slow down, reconnect with imagination, and consider other ways of inhabiting the universe.

My husband and I moved from America to Christchurch, New Zealand nearly four  decades ago and never tire of New Zealand’s dark and clear skies, and the unique celestial features of the great Southern Sky.

An arty scientist takes an unexpected journey deep into the Universe on a meandering starway which travels faster than any spacecraft.

Have you ever seen an astral staircase? Or a liquid methane waterslide?

This perilous “trip” bears witness to the myriad sights beyond the Milky Way; unusual solar systems, signs of extraterrestrial life, celestial playgrounds and glimpses of the interstellar lifestyle.

This is a lighthearted and wistful view of a vibrant and friendly Universe.

Published in August 2019 and available from the artist.  If you would like to purchase this book, please contact us.

Sunrise or Sunset?

Or moonrise or moonset? It's tricky to keep track of time when a day in deep space can be as short as several hours or as long as a year of Earth days.

Interstellar Rush Hour

What would rush hour in deep space be like? Where is everyone going? To jobs? Homes? Vacations? Where are the travel lanes and can you read the signposts?

A Star is Born

What does a star nursery look like? How many stars are born every year? How long does it take to produce a star? Where do stars live once they are born?
